Over the years, DTR-TWIDS has established a solid reputation for successfully preventing and detecting perimeter intrusion attempts while maintaining the lowest false alarm rate available. DTR-TWIDS are in use worldwide, in all terrain and environmental conditions including desert and tundra conditions
The DTR-TWIDS were designed with minimal maintenance requirements in mind due to extensive applications along hostile perimeters.
True Physical Barrier The DTR-TWIDS are based on an electro-mechanical sensor incorporated in a taut wire fence that serves as a true physical barrier. The DTR-TWIDS can be installed as a stand-alone, wall/roof-mounted or as an addition to an existing structure.
The DTR-TWIDS can also be installed on swing and sliding gates in order to provide continuous detection and protection. Short outrigger sections with comers can be done with the use of roller posts. For added protection, comers can be fully overlapped at the outriggers.
At correctional facilities, the DTR-TWIDS are typically applied as the inner fence providing immediate detection and delay in conjunction with an outer fence for additional delay.
Patented Self-Adjusting Sensors At the heart of the DTR intrusion detection system are patented electro-mechanical sensors that automatically self-adjust to any wire creepage caused by temperature variations, soil movements, etc. This important self-compensating feature significantly contributes to the reduction of false alarms.
Very Low False Alarm Rate The combination of the self-adjusting DTR sensors and the unique high tensile double strand reverse twisted taut wires reduce the false alarm/nuisance alarm rate to less than 1 per 3 months per KM. This low FAR/NAR allows the protected facility to operate without unnecessary disturbances and increases the confidence of the security officers tremendously, ensuring an effective and immediate response when an alarm occurs.
Turnkey or Self-Installation A DTR-TWIDS system can be installed at the customer's premises by Safeguards Technology Inc. on a comprehensive turnkey project basis, or can be supplied to the customer in ready assemblies for self-mounting on existing or specially designed fence posts.
Inmate labor can also be utilized for the installation of DTR taut wire system.
Each sensor post shall be mounted on a mechanically rigid support post that is firmly embedded in the ground. The sensor post shall be located midway between 2 anchor posts, which are used to secure the ends of the taut wires.
Sliding devices shall be located at 10 fi. intervals between the sensor and anchor posts.
An entire DTR-TWlDS perimeter intrusion detection system is powered by one power supply located in the system control, requiring no additional power supplies or battery back-ups in the field. This feature increases the reliability of the system significantly.
EMI/RFI and Climate Proof The DTR-TWIDS patented electro-mechanical sensor is not effected by RFI, climatic and atmospheric conditions, including lightning, and electrical transients from nearby power lines.
Integration and Add-ons The DTR-TWIDS can be integrated with other sensor systems or can accommodate other sensor systems with the use of General Purpose Reporting Units (GPRU). Additional devices/systems such as flood lights, transmitters (mobile maps), CCTV and sirens can also be integrated.
Controls and Processors All of the control and reporting units incorporate lightning protection circuits and devices to ensure maximum system availability.
Computerized Control Center (C.C.C.) The CCC is based on a Pentium platform and communicates with GPRU's and Sensor Post Reporting Units (SPRU). It incorporates proprietary security software and communication boards which can operate in master/slave environments. All occurrences within the system are recorded and formatted for custom analysis and maintenance. The CCC can accommodate up to 128 zones.
Y1516 Control Unit The Y1516 Control Unit is microprocessor based and can accommodate up to 16 zones. It can provide dry contacts for integration with other systems and peripherals and can annunciate other sensors systems when the GPRU is utilized.
General Purpose Reporting Unit (GPRU) The GPRU provides 8 sensor inputs and 9 sensor outputs. They can be utilized to integrate other sensor systems with the C.C.C. or Y1516 control units or to integrate the DTR-TWIDS with alarm controls by others.
Sensor Post Reporting Unit (SPRU) The SPRU is utilized by the DTR 3000 TWIDS to provide multiplexed communication with the C.C.C. It has 7 inputs and 7 outputs. The data communication channel is RS422.
